The 2024-25 Upper Deck Ice Hockey Hobby release is packed with excitement, offering collectors a fresh wave of stunning acetate cards, rare autographs, and high-end rookie content that make it one of the season’s most anticipated hockey releases.
The 250-card base set is divided into 100 veteran cards, 50 non-acetate rookie cards, and 100 serially numbered Ice Premieres acetate rookie cards, which are split into five tiers of rarity. Each pack typically contains one non-acetate rookie card and one Emerald Green base parallel, keeping the experience engaging with every rip. The first 150 base cards are also available in a variety of foilboard parallels, including Greyscale (#’d to 99), Red Auto (#’d to 5, hard-signed), Gold Patch or Gold Auto Patch (#’d to 99 or less), White Snowflake Auto (hard-signed), and a one-of-a-kind Black parallel (#’d 1-of-1).
The Ice Premieres acetate rookies are the stars of the show. These translucent cards showcase top-tier NHL rookies in sleek designs and are found in every box, with each one featuring three on average. Parallels include Gold (#’d to 25), Black 1-of-1, and a lineup of hits like Ice Premieres Auto (#’d to 199 or 99), Ice Premieres Jersey, Patch versions (#’d to 25), and the highly coveted Auto Patch cards (#’d to 10), capped by the ultimate chase: the Black 1-of-1 Auto Patch.
Collectors will also be thrilled to find the return of Glacial Graphs, a fan-favorite acetate auto set that spans the spectrum from NHL legends to emerging stars. These cards are visually impressive and include ultra-limited Black parallels numbered as low as 5, some of which even come with player inscriptions.
The Sub Zero lineup adds another frosty layer of excitement. Each box includes one Sub Zero card, which could feature stars, rookies, or rare rookie variants. Sub Zero Rookies come in Level 1 (#’d to 799) and Level 2 (#’d to 599), while special Gold parallels (#’d to 24 for rookies and #’d to 8 for stars) and auto versions bring even more chase potential. A few top-tier rookies are honored with extremely limited Sub Zero Rookie Variant cards, including Green Auto parallels numbered to just 25.
One of the most unique and thrilling aspects of this release is the Frozen in Ice rip card insert. Each oversized card contains a hidden Ice Premieres Mini Rookie Acetate card inside and daring collectors who choose to rip them open might uncover Gold (#’d to 25) or Black (#’d to 5) parallels, or even an ultra-rare Auto Mini numbered to just 15. With the added possibility of pulling a Gold Mini (#’d to 99), every rip holds the potential for a serious reward.
